Natural Disasters and Home Insurance in India

Background and Need India as a natural disaster-prone country India is known to be a natural disaster-prone country. In the words of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, India is the third worst-hit country by natural disasters since 1995 (The Economic Times, 2017 Sep 17). It was reported that 30% of India's geographical area is prone to severe earthquake, another 27% is prone to moderate earthquake and 12% is prone to floods. Besides, 76% of India's coastline is prone to cyclones and tsunami. Why should Kerala be Bothered on its Governance?

The recently out Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2018 put the state of Kerala on the top of the list among the states and union territories in India. It was just as expected. It was in fact mere a continuation of the most celebrated 'Kerala Model'. It's been pretty clear that the State Government's role in molding the so called Model is vital. We would come to know that State Government's role has been significant for the state being ranked top in the list of states and union territories. However, we should discuss whether the State's current position on governance is satisfactory and what are the themes and focus subjects on which the State should be bothered about.
